Dr Udaya Prashant Ponangi is listed as one of the Top 3 Cardiologists in Townsville, Queensland for providing consistent, and high-quality services. He has been selected based on a rigorous 50-Point Inspection.
In addition to two years of Interventional Cardiology Fellowship, he has completed an Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Fellowship at Fiona Stanley Hospital and an Imaging Fellowship at Mount Hospitals in Perth before moving permanently to Townsville.
Dr Ponangi’s 28-year medical career began in 1996 and has been a continuous learning and innovation journey. Dedicating nearly 20 years exclusively to cardiology, and developing a deeper understanding of patient’s problems and evolved innovative techniques for complex heart disease.
Notably, Dr Ponangi developed unique techniques for preventing no-reflow in patients undergoing primary angioplasty with a high thrombus burden, and has shared a lifetime of learning in a review article on the use of coronary guide catheters.
Dr Ponangi has authored a book, “Evaluation of Unexplained Syncope,” published numerous articles and papers in reputed journals, and was involved in several international multi-centered clinical trials.
